Casa de Apostas, a company regulated by the Brazilian government to operate in Brazil and which holds the naming rights to two World Cup stadiums, Fonte Nova and Dunas, conducted a survey of the most bet-on teams and the most sought-after matches by users during the FIFA Club World Cup, which ended last week.
Palmeiras vs. Chelsea was the most bet-on match, with 5,23%, followed by another game involving the São Paulo team, Inter Miami vs. Palmeiras, with 5,12%. Rounding out the top 5 are PSG vs. Botafogo (5,09%), Flamengo vs. Bayern Munich (5,03%), and Bayern Munich vs. Boca Juniors (4,59%).
Regarding the volume of bets involving only clubs, seven European clubs appear in the Top 10, with six of them in the top positions: PSG, with 12% of the betting volume; Real Madrid, with 11,7%; Chelsea, with 10,2%; Inter Milan, with 8,3%; Borussia Dortmund, with 7,9%; and Manchester City, with 7,2%. Flamengo and Fluminense appear in 7th and 8th positions, with 7,2% and 7,14%, respectively. Bayern Munich, with 7,11%, and Palmeiras, with 7%, complete the Top 10.
Another important piece of data was reinforced by Hans Schleier, COO of Casa de Apostas. “We had a 10% increase in betting volume during the competition in Brazil compared to the pre-World Cup period, which shows how much the exposure of the games led to greater demand,” he revealed.
Regarding the survey, the executive explains that European teams continued to be the most bet on, but that matches involving Brazilian teams had a higher percentage of selection by users.
“If we look at the Top 5 most bet-on teams, the European teams are still ahead, partly because there is a very strong culture in the country of betting on Champions League games, for example, and this has been carried over to the Club Cup. On the other hand, the volume of matches with the most bets was from Brazilian teams, but without any significant difference compared to matches involving clubs from other continents,” he analyzes.
