Online gambling addicts receive an average of 12 consultations per day through the Brazilian public health system (SUS).

The Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS) conducted 883 virtual mental health consultations for people with online gambling addiction . The data covers the period from March 3rd to May 18th of this year. The average number of consultations was 12 per day.
Psychologists and psychiatrists conduct the sessions via video call. Each consultation lasts approximately 45 minutes. The patient can receive up to 13 sessions per treatment cycle. The sessions take place individually or in groups, according to information published by the Estadão Column.
Family members and the patient's support network can participate in the therapeutic sessions. The program operates through a partnership between the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS) and the Syrian-Lebanese Hospital. The service is free and maintains confidentiality of information.
Remote format expands access to treatment.
The federal government believes that video-based care reaches people who would not seek in-person services at public health facilities. The shame of admitting addiction represents a barrier to seeking help in person. Family debt caused by gambling also hinders access to treatment.
Over 500 people requested that websites be blocked.
The Ministry of Finance has already received 519 requests for self-exclusion from online betting platforms . The requests were registered in the first five months of the system's operation. This information was published by the Estadão newspaper column.
Among the users who requested the block, 40% cited "loss of control over the game – mental health" as the reason.
