American close to winning biggest prize in history with a bet on the baseball final.
Jim McIngvale, known as "Mattress Mack," registered the highest bet ever received by Caesars Sportsbook for Super Bowl LX. The businessman is using this strategy to protect a promotion at his furniture store that offers refunds to customers if his team wins.

Jim McIngvale, owner of furniture stores in Houston, placed a $2 million bet on the New England Patriots to win against the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl LX. The bet was registered this Tuesday (3) at Caesars Sportsbook with odds of +200, becoming the largest received by the house for this event. The 74-year-old businessman, known as “Mattress Mack”, could profit $4 million if the Patriots win the championship.

The million-dollar bet comes just days before the NFL's grand final, which will take place on Sunday (8), at Levi's Stadium, in Santa Clara, California.

Business strategy behind the bet

McIngvale uses these high-value bets as a "hedging" strategy for promotions at his furniture store, Gallery Furniture. The technique allows him to offer special deals to customers without compromising his finances.

In the current promotion, consumers who spend $4.000 or more on select mattresses or furniture will receive a full refund if the Patriots win the title.

Calculated financial plan

The businessman's plan is simple: if the Patriots win, he will use the $4 million profit from the bet to cover the promised refunds to customers. On the other hand, if the team loses, McIngvale will lose the $2 million wagered, but will keep all the profit from sales made during the promotion.

History of big bets

The Houston tycoon is a well-known figure in the world of sports betting in the United States. In 2022, McIngvale achieved his biggest financial win to date, when he earned $75 million after the Houston Astros won the baseball World Series.

Last year, the businessman did not hold similar promotions because he was recovering from surgery, but now he has resumed his usual strategy.

Super Bowl LX (60) will be played next Sunday, marking the return of “Mattress Mack” to major sports betting linked to commercial promotions.
