The system was unavailable between 8:40 AM and 10:40 AM, preventing lottery bets and bill payments. The instability continued after a partial restoration; app users received maintenance notices, and queues formed at the branches.

A technical failure paralyzed service at lottery outlets across Brazil this Wednesday (3). The interruption occurred between 8:40 am and 10:40 am, preventing bets, bill payments and other operations. Even after partial restoration, the system continued to show instability during the morning.

The problem affected establishments in all regions simultaneously. Users attempting to access the Loterias app received the following notification: “Caixa informs – The Loterias app is temporarily unavailable for maintenance. This page is automatically updated every few seconds. There is no need to refresh this page.”

The outage caused long lines at the stores. Customers waited for extended periods hoping the systems would be restored. In-person service was completely compromised during the downtime.

Business leaders demand modernization of systems.

Business owners in the sector expressed dissatisfaction in WhatsApp groups . Complaints focused on the Technology and Digital area. According to business owners interviewed by BNLData, the equipment used by the network is very old. Technological obsolescence has been cited as a recurring factor in the failures.

The frequency of technical problems has led to demands for modernization of operating systems. These demands include reducing system failures and improving technological stability. Business owners are also discussing mechanisms for compensation for losses resulting from system downtime.

The lottery network depends on the infrastructure of Caixa Econômica Federal (Brazilian Federal Savings Bank) for its operation. Lottery outlets operate under an integrated and centralized system. Problems in communication with Caixa's servers cause simultaneous unavailability throughout the network.

Association calls extraordinary assembly.

The National Association of Lottery Business Owners (ANEL) released a statement regarding the situation. ANEL reported that it is organizing the convocation of an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM). The EGM will be held next week.

The purpose of the Assembly will be to assess the impacts caused to lottery outlets. ANEL intends to hear from its members during the meeting. The organization will deliberate on the appropriate institutional measures to be adopted in response to the problems faced by the lottery network.

To avoid wasting time, it is recommended to check with the establishment beforehand before going to a lottery outlet.
