The Pink Ribbon Foundation is conducting 400 free mammograms in the Federal District this week.

The Laço Rosa Foundation is offering free mammograms at various locations in the Federal District. The initiative will take place this Tuesday (April 14th) in Estrutural and on Wednesday (April 15th) at the Plano Piloto Bus Station. Appointments can be scheduled in advance through the project's website.
The service is intended for women who use the Brazilian Public Health System (SUS). Women aged 40 and over who have not had a mammogram in the last 12 months can participate. Women under this age can also be seen provided they have a doctor's referral or clinical indication.
The Mammography Truck began its services in the Federal District on Friday (April 10). The mobile unit visited Estrutural and Parque da Cidade. The forecast is to offer 400 free exams to the population during the full schedule.
The Secretariat for Women (SMDF) has partnered with the Laço Rosa Foundation to make this initiative possible. Mammography is fundamental for detecting any breast problems, especially breast cancer. Early diagnosis is the best way to increase the cure rate, as the Secretariat warns.
This Tuesday (April 14th), the mobile unit will be operating next to the Estrutural health center. On Wednesday (April 15th), the exams will take place at the Plano Piloto Bus Station.
The selection of women takes into account age, date of last examination, clinical indication, and order of registration. The mobile unit includes welcoming and awareness-raising activities aimed at women in partnership with SMDF.
About the Pink Ribbon Foundation
Laço Rosa is a group of people who fight daily to change the reality of breast cancer in Brazil and around the world. Women's empowerment, influencing public policies, restoring self-esteem, and defending patients' rights are the pillars of the organization, which maintains programs and activities with these objectives.
Among the impact figures for 2023/2024 are more than 25.000 people directly impacted by the institution's actions; 5.100 mammograms donated; 2.200 young people impacted in schools with reliable information about the disease; 1.900 volunteers involved; 8.547 wigs donated; and more than 6 million people impacted on social media.
The Pink Ribbon Foundation was founded in 2011 by Aline Lopes, her sisters Marcelle Medeiros and Andréa Ferreira, family, and friends. With the mission of helping breast cancer patients and their families navigate the impact of the diagnosis with lightness, knowledge, and without losing faith that better days will always come, the Pink Ribbon Foundation is a national reference when it comes to empathy and humanization in the face of breast cancer.
Today, the institution is led by President Marcelle Medeiros and relies on the support of a dedicated board, volunteers, and collaborators committed to helping change the landscape of the disease in Brazil. Based in Ipanema, in the Pavão-Pavãozinho-Cantagalo community in Rio de Janeiro, and resulting from a technical cooperation between the State Secretariat for Women and FAETEC, the institution's actions have national reach.
The institution's accounts are audited annually, and impact reports are published on the website for public consultation, following its commitment to transparency and best management practices in the third sector.
