Grêmio terminates contract with Alfa after three months without payments and announces Energia Bet as its new main sponsor.

Grêmio formalized the termination of its contract with Alfa, its main sponsor, this Monday (2), after three consecutive months without receiving the agreed payments. The club from Rio Grande do Sul has already reached an agreement with Energia Bet, which will display its brand on the tricolor shirt in the final two rounds of the Brazilian Championship, starting with the match against Fluminense, scheduled for this Tuesday (3), at 21:30 pm, at the Arena.

The decision to terminate the contract with Alfa was motivated by the company's failure to meet its financial obligations. According to reporting by Correio do Povo , the contract, which was supposed to run until December 2027, stipulated an annual payment of R$ 50 million to the club, which represented approximately R$ 4 million per month.

Alfa's default directly affected the financial operations of Tricolor, which faced difficulties in meeting its commitments, including the payment of players' salaries. In October, the club had to resort to a loan from businessman Celso Rigo to settle the overdue wages of the squad.

One factor that further deteriorated the relationship between the parties was the preferential treatment given by Alfa to Internacional. While Grêmio was not receiving its payments, the company made the September payment to Inter, albeit 20 days late.

The information about the new sponsorship was initially released by journalist Fabíola Thiele, from Portal do Gremista, and later confirmed by CP. The amounts and other details of the agreement with Energia Bet were not disclosed by the club.

The new brand will debut on the Grêmio jersey in the match against Fluminense, valid for the penultimate round of the Brazilian Championship. The contract termination with Alfa was formalized at the club's headquarters in Porto Alegre.
