IBIA publishes 2025 Sports Betting Integrity Report: 300 alerts reported.
The International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA), the global voice of the regulated betting industry, has published its 2025 Sports Betting Integrity Report. The report reveals that 300 suspicious betting alerts were reported to the relevant authorities during the year. This represents a 29% increase compared to the 232 alerts reported in 2024 and reflects the expansion of IBIA's global monitoring coverage and the improvement of its analytical capabilities.
Brazil has registered 25 suspected cases, 19 in football, 5 in basketball, and 1 in American snooker. Football and tennis continue to dominate the suspicious betting activities.
The main conclusions of the 2025 report include:
⇒ 300 alerts of suspicious betting were reported across 16 sports.
⇒ Football (110) and tennis (74) remained the most reported sports.
Alerts were detected in all major regions, with Europe accounting for the largest share (35%), along with increased activity in North and South America.
⇒ Information obtained through IBIA member operators contributed to the verification of 54 match-fixing incidents.
Through its Global Monitoring and Alerting Platform (Global MAP), the association monitors over 1,5 million matches across more than 80 sports, generating over US$300 billion in sports betting volume annually. IBIA data has once again played a crucial role in supporting sports and law enforcement investigations. The sanctions announced in 2025, involving IBIA data, included 54 proven match-fixing incidents, with subsequent sanctions imposed on 24 players, teams, and officials across five sports.
Khalid Ali, CEO of IBIA, stated: “Our 2025 data highlights a familiar pattern of integrity risk, with football and tennis continuing to account for the largest share of suspicious betting activity. At the same time, the increased scale and reach of our Global Monitoring and Alerting Platform means that our ability to detect, assess, and support investigations across diverse markets and sports has grown. This is due to the intelligence generated by our member operators and their ongoing commitment to identifying, disrupting, and preventing betting-related corruption through collective action and information sharing with our partners.”
The 2025 report includes a dedicated focus on Africa, highlighting that IBIA reported 117 alerts regarding African sporting events during the period from 2021 to 2025. H2 Gambling Capital forecasts that total gross gambling revenue (GGR) in Africa will grow from US$3,5 billion in 2021 to US$19,4 billion in 2030. As regulated betting markets continue to develop across the African continent, IBIA considers early engagement, data-driven monitoring, and collaboration with regulators and sporting bodies essential to safeguarding the integrity of the sports and betting market.
