The Paraíba State Lottery (Lotep) is reinforcing its warning to the public and merchants about the presence of electronic instant lottery terminals operating irregularly in the State of Paraíba. These devices, installed in various commercial establishments, mimic video lottery machines but lack accreditation and authorization from the state agency.

To ensure legality and protect consumers in Paraíba, Lotep emphasizes that only duly accredited companies can operate instant lottery games in the state of Paraíba.

The authority also warns of a recurring practice in illegal equipment: the use of fake documents, often pasted onto the terminals themselves to simulate supposed regularity. In contrast, authorized operators do not use certificates affixed to the machines as proof; validation is carried out through official Lotep channels and by linking to an accredited company.

According to the list available on the official Lotep website (lotep.pb.gov.br), four companies have valid permits to operate this type of lottery throughout the state. Their terminals are identified with logos, corporate information, and proper documentation, which facilitates verification by merchants and the public.

Lotep emphasizes that any terminal not linked to one of these companies, or lacking the corresponding identification and documentation, operates irregularly. Companies not listed in the official list above are not authorized to operate instant betting, and their equipment constitutes fraud against consumers.

Equipment lacking identification from any of the companies listed on the Lotep website is unauthorized and operates illegally in the state of Paraíba. These terminals have been installed in commercial establishments and mislead business owners and customers by simulating legalized gambling.

According to Lotep's technical and inspection manager, Abraão Araújo, the practice represents a direct risk to merchants and consumers. “These irregular terminals are a fraud. They deceive both the business owner and the customer, who believes they are participating in a legalized game. Furthermore, those who allow the installation of these devices can be held administratively and even criminally liable. Therefore, it is essential to always verify if the company is authorized by Lotep,” he emphasized.

Warning to merchants

Lotep advises that the presence of unauthorized terminals in commercial establishments in the State of Paraíba may result in penalties such as fines, immediate seizure of equipment, closure of the premises until regularization, and criminal liability for involvement with illegal gambling and tax evasion.

Before allowing the installation of any equipment, it is essential to consult the list of authorized companies on the official Lotep website (https://lotep.pb.gov.br/loteria-instantanea), demand documentation proving authorization, and be wary of offers promising easy profits without legal backing. In case of doubt, the merchant should contact the agency through official channels.

whistleblowing channels

To report the presence or receipt of proposals for the installation of irregular equipment, the public and merchants can contact Lotep through the Ombudsman's Office at https://lotep.pb.gov.br/ouvidoria, or through official customer service channels.

Reports are essential to curb illegal practices, prevent losses, and protect consumers. When reporting an incident, it is important to provide details such as the location of the establishment, information about the company involved, and any documents or promotional materials received. Lotep guarantees the confidentiality of the whistleblower.

The Paraíba State Lottery reaffirms its commitment to legality, consumer protection, and the strengthening of a safe and responsible gaming market in the State of Paraíba, with zero tolerance for clandestine operations.
