CAIXA lotteries grow 5,4% in the first half of the year and expand social allocations by 25%.

CAIXA Lotteries ended the first half of 2026 with revenue of R$ 12,19 billion, a growth of 5,4% compared to the R$ 11,57 billion recorded in the same period of the previous year.
In the second quarter, revenue reached R$ 6,23 billion, an increase of 2,6% compared to Q2 25 and 4,3% compared to the first three months of this year.
More than just an increase in revenue, the results highlight the importance of federal lotteries for financing public policies. Social allocations reached R$ 5,53 billion in the first half of the year, a 25% increase over the R$ 4,42 billion recorded in the first half of 2025.
Social Security received R$ 2,05 billion, followed by the areas of security, with R$ 1,16 billion; sports, with R$ 891 million; culture, with R$ 341 million; and education, with R$ 168 million.
In addition to social allocations, income tax levied on prizes totaled R$ 1,37 billion in the first half of the year, an increase of 31,8% compared to the same period in 2025. Taken together, social allocations and taxation on prizes reached approximately R$ 6,9 billion.
Bets advance 15,3% in the first half of the year.
The growth of lotteries occurred in parallel with the expansion of the regulated fixed-odds betting market. Data obtained by BNLData from the Secretariat of Prizes and Bets of the Ministry of Finance shows that the betting sector registered a gross revenue of R$ 20,07 billion in the first half of 2026, an increase of 15,3% over the R$ 17,4 billion of the same period in 2025.
The comparison requires a methodological caveat: the R$12,19 billion reported by CAIXA corresponds to the revenue from lottery bets, while the GGR of bets represents the gross revenue of operators after prize payments. Therefore, the absolute values should not be directly compared as equivalent measures of market size. The growth rates, however, show the simultaneous expansion of the two regulated segments.
In the case of fixed-odds betting, R$ 2,49 billion was allocated by law to public policies and social purposes during the semester, equivalent to 12,4% of the GGR (Gross Revenue). Sports was the main beneficiary, receiving R$ 870,15 million.
The tax and regulatory data analyzed by BNLData indicate that this amount is practically identical to the R$ 2,48 billion collected by the Federal Revenue Service under the specific codes for fixed-odds betting. Since both databases appear to reflect the same flow of funds, the amounts should not be added together.
Over R$ 9 billion for taxes and social purposes.
Adding together the social allocations and income tax on prizes reported by CAIXA to the R$ 2,49 billion allocated by the betting companies, the two segments moved approximately R$ 9,4 billion for taxes and social purposes in the first half of 2026.
The result reinforces the economic and social role of the regulated gaming and betting sector. While CAIXA Lotteries maintains a broad and historically consolidated contribution to Social Security, security, sports, education, and culture, fixed-odds betting is beginning to form a new and relevant source of public funding.
Taken together, the numbers show that the debate about the sector should not only consider revenue, growth, or consumer behavior. The evolution of lotteries and betting also has a direct impact on the financing of public policies, making the formalization of the market, the fight against illegal offerings, data transparency, and the monitoring of legally mandated allocations even more important.
