The main basketball league in the United States determined, this Tuesday (23), that teams must submit reports on player injuries between 11 am and 13 pm on the day of the games. The decision was made after a series of fraud cases in American basketball.

The league has modified its protocol for disclosing information about player injuries. Previously, reports were submitted the day before games, but now they are mandatory on the day of the game itself, with publication on the official NBA website.

Injury reports will be updated every 15 minutes on the league's official website, reducing the interval that was previously one hour. The organization also informed franchises that penalties for violations of the new rules will be intensified.

Among the cases that prompted the changes is an incident that occurred in October, when LeBron James was mentioned in an investigation. Damon Jones, former coach and friend of the Los Angeles Lakers star, allegedly provided bettors with privileged information about the player's physical condition, referred to as "Player 3" in the case.

Those involved in the match-fixing cases include LeBron James, indirectly mentioned, and Terry Rozier of the Miami Heat. In Rozier's case, there was a leak of information about his early departure from a game, which resulted in punishment for the athlete.

The incidents took place in the United States, involving players and former coaches from the NBA, the country's main basketball league.

The NBA informed franchises that penalties for violations of the new rules "will be more severe," reinforcing the league's commitment to preserving the integrity of the sport.
