Northeastern Brazil gains prominence in the betting market and consolidates itself as a new business hub for the sector in Brazil.
The growing relevance of the Northeast region to the Brazilian gaming, betting, raffle, and lottery market will be the focus of the BiS João Pessoa 2026 event. Scheduled for September 16th and 17th at the Tauá Resort in Paraíba, the event will bring together leaders from the Brazilian and Latin American industries, institutional representatives, and businesspeople in an experience that integrates educational content, sector-specific debates, executive networking, entertainment, and business meetings.
Historically recognized for its tourism potential and the diversity of its cultural expressions, the Northeast is also beginning to occupy a more relevant position in the development of the regulated market. The presence of state lotteries, popular raffles, capitalization bonds, and different forms of entertainment demonstrates the diversity of this ecosystem and opens up space for new business and institutional opportunities.
The BiS João Pessoa program will address how the region's cultural, economic, and tourism characteristics can contribute to the development of products, services, and business models connected to the reality of local consumers and with potential for the region's socioeconomic development. Among the planned themes are the strengthening of state lotteries, the evolution of the regulated market, the potential for new investments in tourism and entertainment, and opportunities for cooperation between companies, governments, and institutions in the sector.
This selection will also include sports modalities authorized as fixed-odds betting and with strong cultural and popular connections to the Northeast, such as vaquejada (a traditional Brazilian rodeo-like event), rodeo competitions, and other equestrian practices. Alongside these traditional events, the program will highlight contemporary sports with growing appeal among new generations, such as 1-a-side football and mixed martial arts (MMA).
The debates will also analyze the performance of authorized operators in the Brazilian market, especially those based in the Northeast or who maintain closer ties with consumers in the region and invest in modalities related to local sporting identity and preferences. The role of technology providers—many of them international—who identify this demand and develop sports betting platforms, known as sportsbooks , adapted to the characteristics of the competitions and the betting habits of the different Northeastern audiences will also be discussed.
Another distinguishing feature will be the experiential aspect offered by holding the event at a resort. Content, networking, and entertainment will be part of an integrated journey, extending the time and quality of interaction among participants. The format will also include pre-scheduled meetings between senior executives from authorized tour operators and event sponsors, directing connections towards concrete business interests.

The BiS João Pessoa event will be held in conjunction with the conference organized by the Corporación Iberoamericana de Loterías y Apuestas de Estado (CIBELAE). The State Lottery of Paraíba (LOTEP) will be the local host and responsible for organizing the meeting in João Pessoa. The participation of both institutions expands integration with the Latin American lottery ecosystem and the regional market.
