The Brazilian Bar Association of the Federal District (OAB/DF) is launching a series of webinars on the regulation of gambling in Brazil.
The Gaming Law Commission of the Brazilian Bar Association – Federal District Section (OAB/DF) is launching an important series of webinars focused on discussing the regulation of gambling and betting in Brazil, bringing together legal experts, public authorities, industry representatives, and civil society to debate the impacts, challenges, and opportunities that the new legislation brings to the country. The objective of the initiative is to promote knowledge about the rules in force in the post-regulation market and address the legal and regulatory details of sports betting and online gaming in Brazil, as well as share important international best practices for the sustainable growth of the market.
The first virtual meeting in the series “The Rules of the Game Post-Regulation: The Betting Market in Brazil” will take place next week and will kick off a series of debates addressing topics such as licensing, taxation, responsible gambling, money laundering prevention, consumer protection, social responsibility, and the legal and economic aspects of the sector.
The webinar on “How We Got Here” will take place on September 09th at 19:30 PM, featuring a conversation between Regis Dudena, Secretary of Prizes and Betting at the Ministry of Finance, and Magnho José, President of the Legal Gaming Institute and editor of BNLData , moderated by Bárbara Teles, Vice-President of the Gaming Law Commission of the OAB/DF (Brazilian Bar Association, Federal District chapter).
The OAB/DF's initiative comes at a crucial moment: with the recent start of the regulated gaming and betting market in Brazil, the country is now part of a multi-billion dollar global market, which demands clear rules, efficient oversight, and constant dialogue among the actors involved. For the OAB/DF, it is essential that the legal community be prepared to interpret and apply the new legislation in an ethical, technically sound manner, committed to the public interest.
“This is a strategic issue for Brazil's development. The regulation of gambling brings with it complex legal questions and a significant economic impact. The Gambling Law Commission of the OAB/DF (Brazilian Bar Association, Federal District Chapter) understands that it is its role to promote a qualified debate environment to guarantee legal security and protection for society,” states the president of the Gambling Law Commission of the OAB/DF, Fabiano Jantalia.
