PAGCOR launches 24/7 helpline for people with gambling problems in the Philippines.
According to PAGCOR, the NPGH will focus on guidance, triage, and long-term support, in accordance with appropriate referral protocols for crisis situations.

PAGCOR, the Philippine gambling regulator, has launched a National Problem Gambling Helpline (NPGH), available 24/7, which, according to the agency, underscores its commitment to responsible gambling and player protection.

The helpline – a partnership with the Seagulls Flock Organization Inc (SFO) – directly connects people with gambling-related problems to trained counselors who offer confidential support.

In an opening speech read by Senior Vice President of Land Operations, Daniel Cecilio, during the launch, PAGCOR President and CEO, Alejandro H. Tengco, stated that the support program will serve all those struggling with gambling addiction, including family members of those affected.

“This National Helpline for Gambling Problems, which we are launching today, reflects PAGCOR’s commitment to ensuring that the gaming industry remains productive, well-managed, humane and responsible,” said Tengco.

"PAGCOR is aware that, for many, gambling is simply a form of leisure and recreation. But, for some, what may begin as entertainment can gradually lead to financial hardship and ruin, emotional suffering, damaged relationships, and isolation."

Tengco also cited the important role and history of SFO in promoting mental health, counseling, addiction treatment, and behavioral well-being.

"Thanks to the dedication of their psychologists, counselors, social workers, researchers, and advocates, they have helped many people rebuild their lives," Tengco said.

"You bring to this partnership not only experience, but also genuine compassion and a firm belief that people can recover, heal, and start over."

According to PAGCOR, the NPGH will focus on guidance, triage, and long-term support, in accordance with appropriate referral protocols for crisis situations.
