An X user claimed to be a "time traveler" and bet $10,000 on Argentina beating Spain in the 2026 World Cup final. Spain won the game 1-0 in extra time on Monday (July 20), and the user lost the bet.

The story was uncovered by Globo Online after the tournament finalists were determined. The user, owner of the account called Dilemma, had posted a message in July 2021 claiming that Argentina had defeated Spain 3-2 in the World Cup final. When the two teams were confirmed as finalists for the 2026 World Cup, other internet users retrieved the post and labeled him a psychic.

After Argentina's defeat, the account owner shared a screenshot of his bet and criticized the organization that runs the tournament. "I invested all my savings in this; why did you change the script, @FIFAWorldCup?", he posted. Had Argentina won, he would have received US$12.600 in addition to the US$10,000 wagered, according to the bet details released by the user himself. At Monday's exchange rate (July 20th), the amount wagered was equivalent to approximately R$51,000.

The Dilemma account has existed on X since 2017, but there are no posts prior to July 2022 in its history. The absence of older records reinforces the hypothesis that the user may have published different predictions of results and deleted those that did not come true, retrieving only the one that coincided with the actual final matchup. The user himself searched for and reposted the original tweet at the moment the finalists were announced.

The profile currently uses a photo of the character from the movie "Lilo & Stitch" and its last previous post was in December 2025, when it shared content from the entertainment industry, including "The Game" awards. In 2022, the account posted several sports news articles about the World Cup held in Qatar, with links to news websites.
