City councilors in Monte Alegre do Piauí unanimously approve the creation of a Municipal Lottery.

The councilors of Monte Alegre do Piauí unanimously approved the bill that creates the Municipal Lottery in the city. The vote took place during an ordinary session on Friday (24), when the text sent by the Municipal Executive received approval to authorize the operation of lottery modalities and betting games permitted by federal legislation in the municipality of Piauí.

The project establishes that the Municipal Lottery may operate under the direct administration of the city hall or through concessions to companies in the sector. The municipal administration will be responsible for the regulation, control, and oversight of the activities, respecting federal guidelines.

The initiative was considered relevant by municipal parliamentarians for the development of Monte Alegre do Piauí, being one of the main topics discussed in the session that addressed various issues of local interest.

According to the approved text, if the operation is granted to third parties, the process will take place through a competitive bidding process, following the provisions of Federal Law No. 14.133/2021, which establishes the rules for bidding and administrative contracts.

The concession period for lottery services will be 35 years, with the possibility of renewal according to public interest, as determined by the project approved by the city councilors.

The implementation of the Municipal Lottery will take place after regulation, whether for direct operation by the municipality or for the bidding process aimed at granting concessions to specialized companies.

To date, no information has been released regarding the schedule for the start of operations or which specific types of games will initially be offered by the Monte Alegre do Piauí Municipal Lottery.
