Caixa suspends lottery draws on Corpus Christi holiday.

Caixa Econômica Federal has suspended all lottery draws scheduled for this Thursday (19), when Corpus Christi is celebrated. This Tuesday (17), the institution confirmed that the five affected modalities – Lotofácil, Quina, Timemania, Mega-Sena and Dia de Sorte – will have their contests redistributed between Friday (20) and Saturday (21).

The reorganization of the calendar establishes that Lotofácil and Quina will be drawn on Friday (20), while Mega-Sena, Timemania and Dia de Sorte will take place on Saturday (21). Bets can be placed until 19 pm on the day of each draw, both at lottery outlets and through the Caixa Lotteries website or app.

The measure was adopted because many lottery outlets will be closed during the holiday, especially in the 18 Brazilian state capitals where Corpus Christi is considered an official holiday, including São Paulo, Salvador, Belo Horizonte, and Curitiba.

Corpus Christi, although officially an optional holiday by the federal government and not a national holiday, is widely observed throughout the country. The religious date is always celebrated 60 days after Easter, invariably falling on a Thursday.

Caixa adopts this practice of not holding draws on holidays both for operational reasons and to ensure the participation of the largest possible number of bettors. This policy applies to all major holidays, such as Good Friday, Tiradentes Day, and Labor Day.

Regular bettors of the five affected modalities will need to wait until the next working day to check the results of the contests. From Friday (20), the draws will return to normal, following the regular calendar of these modalities.

The drawings will take place in different locations in Brazil, maintaining the usual schedule of Caixa Econômica Federal, with only the dates adjusted due to the holiday.
