Taxi driver finds $300 and returns the money to its owner in the US.

A taxi driver in Las Vegas who found $300 left by a passenger in his car returned the money to its owner.

The passenger who had forgotten a bag in taxi driver Gerardo Gamboa's car had just left one of the city's casinos. The next passenger in the taxi found a forgotten bag on the back seat and handed it to Gamboa.

Initially, the taxi driver thought it was chocolates. But when he opened the bag, stopped at a traffic light, he found six bundles of $100 bills.

Gamboa told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that his first reaction upon seeing the bills was: "My God, this is cash!"

The taxi driver reported the incident to the radio taxi operator and took the money to the office of the company he works for, Yellow Checker Star Transportation.

Gamboa said he didn't think "even for a second" about keeping the money. He recounts that, during the trip, he didn't even speak to the passenger who forgot the money.

Police and a casino employee managed to locate the owner of the bag, who is a well-known poker player. His name was not revealed to the press.

It was also not revealed whether he received any kind of reward from the owner of the money. But the company he works for presented him with a check for US$1 to reward his honesty.

"This guy is fantastic. We've never had a problem with him in 13 years," said the company's director, Bill Shranko. (From BBC – G1 – Rede Globo)
