Betting: Ministry of Economy defines team for contracting studies.

A decree from the Administration and Logistics Directorate of the Ministry of Economy published this Wednesday (9) designated civil servants to compose the Contracting Planning Team, with a view to contracting specialized studies with the objective of subsidizing the privatization process of the public lottery service called fixed odds betting, established by Law 13.756/18.

The team will consist of Martha Seillier (Requesting member), Robson Eneas de Oliveira (Technical member), Alceu Justus Filho (Technical member), Itamar de Carvalho Pereira (Technical member), Altair Mendanha de Oliveira (Technical member), and André Cordeiro Lopes (Administrative member).

The responsibilities of the Procurement Planning Team are outlined in Normative Instruction No. 5 of May 26, 2017.

New step

The Ministry of Economy's definition of the team responsible for guiding and approving specialized studies to support the privatization process of the lottery modality known as 'Fixed-Odds Betting' or sports betting is another step in the process. This includes contracts with the National Bank for Economic and Social Development – ​​BNDES.

The next step will be the signing of the contract between the Ministry of Economy and BNDES for the contracting of studies, projects, surveys, or investigations necessary for the implementation of the privatization.

Only after these studies will the number and duration of licenses, values, and concession model for private sports betting initiatives be defined.
