BETBY will be the main sponsor of the new elite chess tournament MOVE Cup in Barcelona.

BETBY, a leading provider of sports betting solutions, has been announced as the main sponsor of the newly launched MOVE Cup, an elite rapid chess tournament that will bring together eight of the world's top grandmasters in Barcelona on January 19 and 20, 2027.

Officially presented at a press conference in Barcelona, the MOVE Cup aims to establish itself as a regular event on the international chess calendar, combining elite competition with a strong charitable purpose.

The tournament will feature a prize pool of €300.000, accompanied by an equal contribution of €300.000 to the MOVE Foundation, which supports the development of chess, young talent, and research on chess and mental health.

Magnus Carlsen, global brand ambassador for BETBY and widely considered the greatest chess player of all time, has been confirmed as the first player in the competition. The other seven grandmasters will be announced individually in the coming weeks.

BETBY's support for the MOVE Cup reinforces its growing connection with the global chess community. Carlsen first joined BETBY at ICE Barcelona in 2025 and returned for a second consecutive year in 2026, when the supplier brought together Carlsen, Hikaru Nakamura, and Levy Rozman in one of its most ambitious brand actions to date.

The MOVE Cup represents the next step in this journey. Its program will begin on January 18th with a charity event at the BETBY booth (5K20) during ICE Barcelona, bringing together prominent players, donors, and partners in a special hands-and-brain format.

Leonid Pertsovskiy, CEO and co-founder of BETBY, stated: “Chess is a game of clear thinking, analysis, patience, and resilience. Following the success of the chess event during ICE Barcelona 2026, we wanted to bring the world’s best players back to this city for something bigger and more ambitious. The MOVE Cup is that step. The ambition of the MOVE Cup is to become a regular event on the world chess calendar, and we at BETBY are proud to support it.”

The MOVE Cup tournament will be held on January 19th and 20th, 2027, during ICE Barcelona week, following the charity event at BETBY's booth 5K20 on January 18th.
