Bolsonaro and his brother win the Mega da Virada lottery in a group bet.
Renato Bolsonaro (PL), brother of former president Jair Bolsonaro and pre-candidate for federal deputy for São Paulo, announced that the family's lottery pool hit four of the six numbers in the Mega da Virada. The information was shared on his social networks on Thursday (2).
The group of bettors consists of Renato, the former president, and two other unidentified family members. Among the numbers correctly predicted is 13, traditionally associated with the Workers' Party (PT). According to a survey by Sonar – A Escuta das Redes on Globo Online, Renato Bolsonaro's post generated significant repercussions on social media.
“This year we made a pool of three, and I couldn’t leave my brother (Jair, who is in prison) out. This time 22 didn’t come up, but in 2026 you can bet that 22 will win,” declared Renato Bolsonaro, referring to the number of the Liberal Party.
The former president's brother also stated: "We're starting 2026 on a lucky note!"
This is not the first time the group has been successful in betting. According to Renato, they also won a prize for matching four numbers in 2024. The group bet included games with the number 22, which represents PL, but this number was not drawn.

Renato did not specify the amount of the prize he received for correctly guessing four numbers, nor did he disclose the other three matching numbers. No details were provided on how the prize will be distributed among the participants.
On the same day the lottery results were announced, Jair Bolsonaro was discharged from the hospital after undergoing surgery to correct a bilateral inguinal hernia and treatment for hiccups. After his discharge, he returned to the Federal Police headquarters in Brasília, where he is serving a 27-year and three-month sentence for attempted coup d'état and four other crimes.
