Brazil has only the 39th best performance among the 48 teams in the 2026 World Cup in the post-2022 World Cup cycle.

After losing to France 2-1 on March 26th and beating Croatia 3-1 on Tuesday, March 31st, the Brazilian National Team reached a 52,4% success rate in matches played after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Among the 48 teams qualified for the 2026 World Cup, Brazil is in 39th position, the worst among the seeded teams and former world champions. Argentina, the last champion, leads the ranking with an 83,8% success rate.
Since 2023, the Brazilian National Team has had four coaches: Ramon Menezes (interim), Fernando Diniz, Dorival Júnior, and the Italian Carlo Ancelotti, who debuted in the second half of 2025. During this period, from 2023 until this last friendly against Croatia, there were 35 games, 15 wins, 10 draws, and 10 losses, with 58 goals scored and 39 goals conceded.
Brazil, ranked 6th in the FIFA rankings, has a better win percentage than only nine national teams: Paraguay (40th), Scotland (43rd), Qatar (55th), Saudi Arabia (61st), Jordan (63rd), Bosnia and Herzegovina (65th), Ghana (74th), Curaçao (82nd), and New Zealand (85th). Among the CONMEBOL countries, which faced practically the same opponents as the Brazilian national team during this period, Brazil is behind Argentina (83,8% win percentage in the post-World Cup cycle), Colombia (66,7%), Ecuador (56,8%), and Uruguay (55,3%).
Since being eliminated in the quarterfinals of the 2022 World Cup by Croatia, the Brazilian National Team fell in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Copa América to Uruguay, and finished the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup in 5th place, with 28 points, behind Argentina (39), Ecuador (29), Colombia (28) and Uruguay (28).
In the pre-2022 World Cup cycle, the Brazilian National Team, under coach Tite, played 50 games, winning 37, drawing 10 and losing only 2, scoring 111 goals and conceding only 19, achieving an 80,7% points percentage. During this period, they were leaders in the South American World Cup Qualifiers, champions of the 2019 Copa América and runners-up in 2021.
