A request from Congressman Hildo Rocha (MDB-MA) invites the SPA (Special Secretariat for Social Development), the Federal Revenue Service, the Ministry of Sports, COAF (Council for Financial Activities Control), and the Federal Police to discuss tax compliance, financial control, and money laundering prevention in the online betting sector.

The Finance and Taxation Committee (CFT) of the Chamber of Deputies approved this Wednesday (5), a request authored by deputy Hildo Rocha (MDB-MA), which asks for a public hearing to debate the tax regularity of online betting platforms, the effectiveness of the mechanisms for monitoring and controlling financial transactions and the possible existence of tax irregularities or evidence of money laundering related to the reported facts involving lawyer Willer Tomaz and the company responsible for operating the Blaze platform in Brazil.

Presented on October 29th, the request focuses on the transparency of operations, compliance with tax obligations, and the effectiveness of sector control instruments. In his justification, the parliamentarian states that the expansion of the online betting market requires strengthening tax oversight, financial transparency, and the prevention of money laundering. He cites recent news about financial operations involving Willer Tomaz and Blaze, as well as possible failures in monitoring procedures attributed to the operator, but clarifies that the request does not represent a premature judgment on the occurrence of illegal acts or on the responsibility of individuals or companies.

According to the congressman, the hearing should gather official information to assess the adequacy of existing controls, identify gaps, and discuss measures to improve oversight, considering the relevance of the topic to public revenue, the integrity of the financial system, and the effectiveness of regulation.
