How Lotseridó is changing the lives of residents of Bodó (RN) with Health and Infrastructure

The city of Bodó, located about 200 km from Natal (RN), has become a concrete example of how resources from municipal lotteries can transform the lives of the population. Through Lotseridó, the city's municipal lottery, established at the end of 2024, the municipality has already registered significant advances in health, infrastructure, and water supply.

The municipal administration announced the acquisition of an ambulance and a new vehicle, in addition to the start of paving works on Monte de Santa Luzia, one of the most important points in the city.

The new ambulance — a Toyota Hilux adapted for healthcare services — will be used to transport patients, especially those living in rural areas. The Strada vehicle will serve for administrative support, reinforcing the municipal service structure. Currently, Bodó has four vehicles to serve the population in the most remote areas.

With the arrival of the new vehicles, the response to emergency calls will be much faster and more efficient. The service flow will follow the same protocol: residents of rural areas seek out their local primary health care unit, which then contacts the city hospital to send an ambulance. Now, with the new vehicle, travel time will be reduced, ensuring greater agility in emergency cases.

Furthermore, the ambulance also transports patients being discharged to the municipality and neighboring cities. The Secretary of Health of Bodó, Deyse Medeiros, celebrates the arrival of the vehicles.

"The vehicle will be very useful for the city. Its height will allow it to reach the most remote locations in the rural area, where current vehicles have great difficulty accessing," he said.

Mount of Santa Luzia

In addition to the health sector, Lotseridó is also funding important infrastructure projects. The funds will allow for the construction of a handrail to ascend Mount Santa Luzia, which is 596 meters high.

The intervention will facilitate access to the city's tourist and religious site, a 59-year-old building that houses chapels where residents of Bodó and other cities climb every year to fulfill promises and offer prayers.

Meanwhile, the city government is using funds from the municipal lottery to expand, renovate, and/or construct 21 water reservoirs, with plans to reach 30 renovated units. This initiative will reduce costs associated with water trucks and ensure greater water security for local farmers.

Mayor Horison José celebrated the results, which are already beginning to be felt by the population.

"This is something that they (the residents) are all very happy about," he stated.

The president of the National Association of Municipal and State Lotteries (ANALOME), Camilo Brito, highlighted Bodó as an example of efficient management of resources from municipal lotteries.

“You, who are mayors of other municipalities, this is a demonstration of what can be done with resources from municipal lotteries. While some are discussing, others are already doing. Here is Horison, already doing, already raising funds and already transforming the reality of the city with resources from the municipal lottery,” he stated.

With concrete actions in the areas of health, infrastructure, and supply, Bodó demonstrates that municipal lotteries can be effective tools for social and economic development, strengthening the autonomy of municipalities and improving the quality of life for the population.
