The government of the State of Paraíba will create new types of lottery games.
The State Government has sent a draft law to the Legislative Assembly that regulates lottery operations and establishes other special types of prediction contests. This is the first change to occur 48 years after the creation of the Paraíba State Lottery (Lotep), and aims to keep pace with the modernization implemented in other similar lotteries.
The bill under review by lawmakers authorizes the operation of various types of lotteries – Numbers, Instant, Video Lottery, Online/Real-Time Lottery System, Special, Conventional, and Mixed.
According to the president of Lotep, Roberto Rabelo, the changes will help raise funds that will be invested in social programs, such as daycare centers, shelters for minors and the elderly.
The resources will also be applied to amateur sports, public safety, and the promotion of culture, as is done in other states. He emphasizes that new service positions will be opened.
According to the bill, Lotep will be authorized to impose fines on agents who disobey the law, seize equipment, lottery materials and similar items, temporarily suspend operations, and revoke authorization or accreditation.
No lottery activity can operate in Paraíba without authorization from Lotep.
