President Jair Bolsonaro gave an exclusive interview to Jovem Pan this Monday (8), at the Planalto Palace. In the conversation with commentator Augusto Nunes, he spoke about the composition of his ministry, revealed the reasons for the fall of the Minister of Education, announced changes to toughen the benefits of the Rouanet Law and about the calling of a meeting with the president of Caixa Econômica Federal, Pedro Guimarães to resolve the problems of the lottery network.

The president recounted the problems faced by the lottery network during Dilma Rousseff's government. He also stated that he wants to modify the lottery system, expanding the services offered and making available to the public a kind of "basket of products".

“We have to have the ability to anticipate problems. Take the issue of lottery operators in Brazil. About three years ago, during Dilma Rousseff's government, they wanted to hold a new bidding process for the lotteries. The goal was to raise almost R$ 2 billion with this new bidding process. People came to Brasília. The person who dealt with this issue on the ground, as commanders, was Nelson Marquezelli and the congressman from Santos, Beto Mansur. I entered at the second tier. They were the generals, and I helped there as a corporal in this situation. We monitored this problem and resolved it.”

The president also commented that he questioned the president of Caixa about how he could better serve the business owners.

"What I did now as president was call the head of the lottery operators, I called our Pedro Guimarães, president of Caixa Econômica Federal. First, I called Pedro. 'Pedro, what can we do to meet the needs of the lottery operators?'"

Bolsonaro also commented on his cousin, who is a lottery business owner in Eldorado Paulista, and the difficulties he faces in reaching a minimum revenue.

“I have a nephew who runs a lottery in Eldorado Paulista. I'm not fighting for him, because the profit margin in Eldorado Paulista must be around 2,5 voters. So you can see he doesn't make much money. In a month when everything goes right, he earns R$ 4, because his work and his wife's don't count. If he had to pay two people to work, he would have zero profit.”

In the interview, Bolsonaro also revealed that the president of Caixa (the Brazilian bank) said that Caixa makes a lot of money from lottery agents.

"What can we anticipate to meet their needs? Pedro told me: 'Look, we could have a basket of products that they could also sell at the lottery outlet.' I added: 'I think the percentage that goes to the lottery outlets is too low. Does Caixa [the Brazilian bank] make a lot of money from this or not?' He said, 'Caixa does make a lot of money from the lottery outlets. We can review this percentage.'"

Finally, the president revealed that he had scheduled a meeting with himself, Pedro Guimarães, and the representative of the lottery operators to resolve the problem with the lottery network.

“So we scheduled a meeting. Me, Pedro, and the representative from the other side, so that in one hour, it's not about coming up with a proposal, it's about solving their problem. Augusto, you come to someone and say, 'I'm hungry. Do I need to wait for you to lend me a plate of food?' I'll pay for your cheap food right here and now, and you can eat your cheap food there and be satisfied. That's what we want to do, anticipate problems.”
