A court in São Paulo has ordered the blocking of websites linked to gambling; see those involved.
The lawsuit was filed by the Association for the Defense of Games and Betting – Adeja, which alleges that the defendants act as intermediaries in the financial flow of betting websites without a license or regulation; the companies mentioned did not respond.

A court in São Paulo has ordered the blocking of access to 15 websites linked to the operation of virtual gambling. According to court documents, the public civil action was filed by the Association for the Defense of Games and Betting (Adeja), which alleges that the defendants act as intermediaries in the financial flow of unlicensed or unregulated betting sites in Brazil, receiving payments from users and transferring them to the platforms. The companies mentioned have not yet responded to requests for comment.

"The 35th Civil Court of the Capital determined, in a preliminary decision, the blocking of access to 15 websites linked to virtual gambling, notifying the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) to take the necessary measures with internet providers," said the Court of Justice of São Paulo (TJSP) on Friday, the 6th. Anatel, also contacted, did not comment.

“In the ruling, Judge Gustavo Henrique Bretas Marzagão highlighted the notorious negative effects that slot machine-type games, hosted on clandestine and unauditable websites, have caused to the population,” said the TJSP (São Paulo State Court of Justice). The magistrate cites people who lost all their assets in illegal gambling.

"The facts narrated in the initial complaint and the accompanying documents demonstrate the plausibility of the plaintiff's allegations regarding the co-defendants' participation in the damages suffered by the community, insofar as, as intermediaries in the financial flow, they ensure that the money paid by the user reaches the accounts of the owners of the betting sites," stated Bretas.

According to the São Paulo Court of Justice (TJSP), the decision can be appealed. All companies involved were contacted by the news outlet, but have not yet commented. The space remains open for their statements.
