On June 1st, a lucky winner from Germany took home the biggest EuroJackpot prize of 90 million euros (£79m) at Lottoland – now, Guinness World Records has confirmed that the prize is the largest payout for an online bet in history. The Guinness World Records certificate was officially presented to Lottoland yesterday.
The company secured the title of “Biggest Online Bet Payout” after Christina, a 36-year-old cleaner from Berlin, placed a bet on the Eurojackpot lottery via her mobile phone at http://www.lottoland.com. Her mother chose the five lucky numbers (14, 19, 21, 30, 32) and the two Euro numbers (4 and 7) that combined to lead to this record win.
Nigel Birrell, CEO of Lottoland, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have achieved a Guinness World Record. It is a great honor to enter this hall of fame. This title is a confirmation of our business model, proving that we are even capable of breaking world records thanks to our sophisticated insurance model.”
“At Lottoland, we’re in the business of making dreams come true. Therefore, we’re always thrilled to completely change the life of one of our players. We’re proud to pay out even the biggest wins in record time and are more than happy to help Christina and her mother achieve their dreams.”
Official Guinness World Records judge Sofia Greenacre said: “I am pleased to confirm that Lottoland has indeed set a new Guinness World Record for the largest online betting payout, now reaching an incredible €90.000.000. Congratulations to everyone who participated, you are officially amazing.”
