New government leader in the Chamber defends the legalization of gambling.

President Jair Bolsonaro replaced the government leader in the Chamber of Deputies this Wednesday (12). Deputy Ricardo Barros (PP-PR) takes over, and announced the information via Twitter. With the change, Deputy Vitor Hugo (PSL-GO), who served as the government leader in the Chamber since the beginning of Bolsonaro's term, leaves the position.
Ricardo Barros is a congressman for the Progressistas party, which is part of the bloc of parties known as the "Centrão" (Center). Currently, this group of parties is formally part of the support base for Jair Bolsonaro's government. This change removes the PSL, the president's former party, from the leading role in political negotiations in the Chamber of Deputies. Historically, the support of the Centrão ensures the approval of important government agendas in Congress. The congressman was Minister of Health in the Michel Temer government and also held leadership positions in previous governments.
The congressman attended the launch of the Pro-Gaming Parliamentary Front.
In May of last year, during the relaunch of the Joint Parliamentary Front for the Approval of the Regulatory Framework for Gambling in Brazil, Congressman Ricardo Barros attended the dinner hosted by the Brazilian Legal Gambling Institute – IJL at the Fogo de Chão steakhouse in Brasília, and the ceremony for the establishment of the Parliamentary Front in the Chamber of Deputies.
On both occasions, the new government leader in the Chamber of Deputies gave speeches defending the legalization of gambling as an alternative source of revenue for the government coffers, as well as a potential job creator.
