Senator Jorginho Mello assumes the role of rapporteur for the bill that prohibits transactions with credit or debit cards, or even electronic currency, intended for participation in gambling on websites hosted outside the country.

Senator Jorginho Mello (PL-SC) was appointed rapporteur for Senate Bill 213/2017 in the Committee on Economic Affairs – CAE. The proposal, authored by Senator Ciro Nogueira (PP-PI), prohibits transactions with credit or debit cards, or even electronic currency, that are intended for participation in gambling on websites hosted on servers located outside the country.

The proposal was previously under the purview of former Senator Roberto Requião (PMDB-PR), who opposes the legalization of gambling. He presented a report recommending approval of the bill in the CAE (Committee on Economic Affairs) at the end of last year. As his term ended due to the expiration of his mandate, Senator Lasier Martin (PODE-RS) was appointed rapporteur in April of this year, but returned the bill for redistribution in June.

Check out the full text of Senator Ciro Nogueira's proposal, which has a final decision:
