During the presentation of the 2024 financial report, the president of Caixa Econômica Federal, Carlos Vieira, stated that Caixa Loterias will operate in the electronic sports betting market with the same governance structure it uses in lotteries.

The president of Caixa Econômica Federal, Carlos Vieira, stated this Wednesday (26), that the bank will operate in the electronic sports betting market with the same governance as it operates in lotteries, a market in which it has been since the 1960s.

"We will enter this market in a calm, conscious way, with the same governance that we use in lotteries," he said at a press conference about the bank's 2024 results.

Caixa Econômica Federal had a recurring net profit of R$ 4,581 billion in the fourth quarter of 2024, according to a balance sheet released this Tuesday (25).

Lottery revenue in the fourth quarter was R$ 7,8 billion, 7,3% higher than in the same period of the previous year. The total net prize money awarded to bettors during the period was R$ 2,7 billion. For the year 2024, accumulated revenue reached R$ 25,9 billion, 10,6% higher than in 2023.

In 2024, R$ 10,0 billion, equivalent to 38,8% of the total collected, was allocated to the Federal Government's social programs in the areas of social security, sports, culture, public safety, education, and health.

"CAIXA Lotteries constitute an important source of resources to foster the social development of Brazil," the document states.

The launch of the Exclusive Instant Lottery (Lotex) stands out in the fourth quarter of 2024, as authorized by the Ministry of Finance through Ordinance MF No. 1.646/2023. The authorization allows the operation of this modality for a period of 24 months, which may be extended until the start of execution by the winning operator of the concession bidding process.

Furthermore, R$ 315,3 million was invested in sports sponsorships, of which R$ 216,5 million was contracted in 2024.

"CAIXA and Loterias CAIXA promote sport as a tool for inclusion and social transformation," the report points out.
