The Federal Police launched an operation this Thursday against aides of federal deputies Carlos Jordy and Sóstenes Cavalcante, both from the PL party in Rio de Janeiro. The action aims to investigate the crimes of embezzlement, money laundering, and criminal organization.

According to information from the Federal Police, the operation was named "Rent a Car" in reference to the alleged scheme, in which a car rental company was used to simulate service contracts.

Investigations point to the existence of a criminal scheme that used a vehicle rental company to simulate service contracts and divert public funds originating from parliamentary allowances.

Representative Sóstenes Cavalcante announced on social media that he was informed about the operation involving his aides by the press. He stated that the agents could "search everything" and still find nothing.

But it's not quite like that....

Sóstenes' expenses on car rentals are almost double the average of other deputies.

Federal deputy Sóstenes Cavalcante (PL-RJ) reported that his car rental expenses are almost double the average declared by other parliamentarians, according to a survey conducted by GLOBO on the Chamber of Deputies' Transparency Portal . Sóstenes' aides were the target of a search and seizure operation by the Federal Police (PF) on Thursday morning. The operation targeted a scheme involving the misuse of parliamentary funds for irregular payments, based on fraudulent contracts with car rental companies.

In a press conference this morning, Sóstenes stated that he sought the "cheapest" option for renting a "Corolla" model car in Brasília. He said that his driver recommended the company Harue Locação de Veículos Eireli (now Alfa Auto Car Locação de Veiculos Ltda), which was identified as one of the targets of today's operation. However, throughout this year, the congressman's expenses with the service provided by this company and a second car rental company exceeded R$ 137,9, while the average expenses of other congressmen in this category were approximately R$ 76,8.

Among the federal deputies from the PL party alone, Sóstenes' expenses rank fifth in terms of the highest declared amounts and remain above the overall average for members of the party's caucus in the Chamber of Deputies, which is approximately R$ 71,6.

"Those most interested in this agenda want to launder money."

Congressman Sóstenes Cavalcante (PL-RJ) – a licensed pastor of the Assembly of God Victory in Christ and also an opponent of the legalization of gambling in Congress – who has the support of religious leader and pastor Silas Malafaia, has always used biased and prejudiced discourse against gambling, as defended by Dona Santinha through the arguments of 'moral, religious tradition and good customs', which was expanded and incorporated by the pastor who added that legalized activity would be conducive to money laundering.

'The Gaming Crew': An overdose of distrust…

That old saying, "everyone has a skeleton they want to keep hidden in the closet," also applies to Congressman Sóstenes Cavalcante…

I never tire of repeating this…time has been an ally in allowing the sector to witness the demoralization and defeats of these institutions that form the 'Gambling Gang'.

How far does the credibility of these institutions, which constantly demonize and make predictions against the gambling industry, go?

You know: I distrust everyone!!!
