Present in 70% of clubs, the sports betting sector leads the main sponsorship of Serie B teams.

In the 2025 Brazilian Série B Championship, 70% of the teams have betting companies as their main sponsors. Only Avaí, Amazonas, Chapecoense, Cuiabá, Operário-PR, and Remo do not have any agreements with betting companies at the moment. During the last season, all clubs were sponsored by this sector.
“With the regulation of betting companies, clubs feel more secure in closing sponsorship deals with companies in the betting sector. Brazil is evolving more and more in this market and is already considered the third largest country in the world in this field. I believe that in the coming years the segment should continue to grow exponentially and the agreements between teams and betting companies will become increasingly long-lasting,” says Leonardo Henrique Roscoe Bessa, consultant to the Federal Council of the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB) and partner at Betlaw, a law firm specializing in the gaming and betting sector.
This is the case with Botafogo-SP. At the beginning of January, the club closed its biggest sponsorship deal in history with HanzBet, a betting company from Ribeirão Preto, the hometown of the "Pantera" (Botafogo's nickname). The contract is for one year, with a renewal clause, and should increase the team's revenue by 40% this season.
“The betting segment is currently the biggest investor in national football. In the Brazilian Série B, sports betting companies will be present in the vast majority of clubs and also sponsoring the competition. If the revenue from these commercial agreements is well used, the result will be an even stronger and more competitive championship,” says Fábio Wolff, managing partner of Wolff Sports, a sports marketing company that has already made several agreements with companies in the betting industry.
Since the end of last season, several clubs and betting companies have signed new contracts, as was the case with BETesporte and CRB, from Alagoas.
“It’s gratifying to be able to directly support Alagoas football through sponsorship. It demonstrates our commitment to the visibility and promotion of the sport outside of traditional centers. It also values the best that Brazil has to offer, clubs that, with the right support, have room to grow even more and show the strength of the Northeast region,” comments Vinicius Nogueira, CEO of the company that also sponsors Volta Redonda in Série B.
GingaBet also has new sponsorships for clubs in the 2025 Série B: Paysandu and Vila Nova, announced in February. “We chose to sponsor Vila Nova and Paysandu because they are teams with a rich history and great fan engagement, which is totally aligned with our purpose of being close to those truly passionate about football. We believe that sponsorship goes beyond brand exposure; it's a way to support the growth of the sport and connect directly with the fans,” comments André Baldavira, Head of Marketing and Content at GingaBet.
On the other hand, others renewed long-standing agreements, such as Reals and Coritiba, partners since 2022. Criciúma, meanwhile, has had EstrelaBet as its main sponsor since the beginning of 2023, in a contract that was renewed in March 2024 and became the largest in the club's history, in terms of value.
“We are already in our third season with Criciúma and, from the very first moment, we felt how engaged the club's fans are. We have carried out several actions through this partnership, including activations for the fans and also various initiatives with the team, such as the lecture for the athletes and other professionals of the institution for the prevention of match-fixing,” points out Renan Cavalcanti, CMO of EstrelaBet.
Avaí had been sponsored by PixBet since 2021, but the contract ended at the end of last season. For 2025, the club is evaluating new opportunities for a main sponsor, and is not ruling out the possibility of once again featuring a betting company on the center of its jersey.
Considered one of the main showcases in the central-west region, Cuiabá did not renew its main sponsorship with Drebor and received some inquiries about occupying the main space on its jersey. "We will only talk when we understand that the proposal is satisfactory and within what Cuiabá believes it can currently offer as a showcase," said Cristiano Dresch, president of the club.
José Francisco Manssur, partner at the law firm CSMV Advogados and former special advisor to the Executive Secretariat of the Ministry of Finance, comments on the strength of betting in Brazilian football: “Currently, the betting sector is the one that invests the most in Brazilian sports sponsorship. No other sector comes close. Companies in the betting segment have brought private resources to sports, which before them were dependent on public banks and state-owned companies. And this is positive because support for sports generates benefits for society as a whole.”
