Uruguay announces the construction of a casino in Rocha.

President Luis Lacalle Pou participated in the presentation of the project to build a five-star hotel with a casino and ancillary structures on the Rocha coast. The Minister of Tourism, Germán Cardoso, announced that the international call for bids will open on September 23rd, with a 60-day deadline for expressions of interest.
“This is a project that has been awaited for many years,” stated Minister Cardoso at the presentation held at the headquarters of Clube Atlético Rocha, in conjunction with local authorities, headed by Mayor Flavia Coelho. The hotel-casino complex will be located in La Coronilla, which lies between the towns of La Paloma and Chuy, on the coast of the department.
To draft the specifications, a team was formed at the Ministry of Tourism, composed of Undersecretary Remo Monzeglio, Director-General Ignacio Curbelo, and technicians from that department. Cardoso stated that this team has worked intensively in recent months to "give the definitive boost and development to one of the most beautiful places on the Uruguayan coast."
Germán Cardoso also stated that when the pandemic gives way to normality, "Uruguay, due to the good prestige it has acquired in the region and the world, will receive a strong boost and development from the point of view of tourism and investments related to the tourism sector."
Comment: casino for Brazilian tourists
Uruguay has a population of 3,4 million and boasts 35 gambling and betting venues, including casinos (12), slot machines, racetracks, and others. The country invests in border casinos to make life easier for residents of neighboring countries.
Rocha's new casino, in La Coronilla, is a six-hour drive from Porto Alegre, in Rio Grande do Sul. Do I need to draw you a picture?
