Piauí regulates the use of sports betting revenue for public policies.

The State Secretariat of Sports of Piauí (Secepi) has begun managing resources from fixed-odds betting allocated to state sports. The regulation was published in the State Official Gazette on Tuesday (March 17). The rule establishes procedures for the management, control, and application of these funds within the state of Piauí.
This measure complies with federal legislation that mandates the transfer of a portion of the revenue from fixed-odds betting to the State Sports Secretariats. According to the federal regulation, the State Sports Secretariats receive 0,70% of the revenue from these bets.
Management and application of resources
The funds received will be used exclusively for actions related to the state's sports policy. While not in use, the resources will remain in financial investments linked to federal government bonds. The use of the money will depend on budgetary provisions, following the rules of fiscal and financial legislation.
Secepi will develop an application plan that will include the definition of goals, actions, and a schedule for the execution of resources. The agency will maintain detailed control over the application of funds. Accountability will follow state and federal regulations.
Transparency and oversight
Resources, income, and expenses will be disclosed on the State's Transparency Portal. The population of Piauí will be able to monitor the use of these funds through the platform. The measure came into effect on the date of its publication.
