The statement by Congressman Carlos Zarattini occurred during a luncheon meeting promoted by the FPE (Portuguese Parliamentary Front) regarding the Provisional Measure with alternative measures to the increase in IOF (Tax on Financial Operations).

Federal deputy Carlos Zarattini (PT-SP), rapporteur of Provisional Measure 1303, which became known as the BBB Tax (banks, bets, billionaires), stated this Tuesday, the 19th, that he intends to present his opinion on the proposal to the Joint Committee that analyzes the topic in the National Congress by "mid" September.

“We will have to not only address the important demands that we have been considering and listening to arguments about, but also forge a good alliance with the various parties in the Chamber and the Senate to reach a common ground that allows for the approval of this provisional measure. This alliance will, of course, be influenced by the interests here, the various interests affected by the provisional measure,” the parliamentarian indicated.

The statement was made during a luncheon meeting hosted by the Parliamentary Front for Entrepreneurship (FPE) regarding the Provisional Measure with alternative measures to the increase in the Tax on Financial Operations (IOF). The Secretary of Economic Reforms of the Ministry of Finance, Marcos Pinto, also participated in the event.

In his opening remarks, Zarattini limited himself to mentioning the projected date for the presentation of his report and listing the main points of the Provisional Measure. The rapporteur cited, for example, the unification of taxation on investments, highlighting that the idea is to "benefit short-term investors with lower incomes." He also emphasized that a large part of the discussion in the Provisional Measure concerns investments linked to agribusiness, the real estate sector, and incentivized debentures.

Zarattini also cited as a "controversial" point of the Provisional Measure the change regarding the fishing ban insurance, with the provision for the participation of municipalities in the registration of fishermen. ( Jornal de Brasília – Estadão Conteúdo)
