Tuesday's betting activity was the highest in Gávea.

Once again, Tuesday's meeting at the Gávea Hippodrome had the highest Total Betting Volume (TBV) of the week, with R$ 658.999,47 in revenue. And there is an important detail to be observed by the JCB (Jockey Club Brasileiro) officials. Technically, with the exception of the No Regrets Special Race, the level of the races was the lowest of the three meetings held, compared to the races on Sunday and Monday. On Sunday, despite the Much Better Classic and the Pico Central Special Race, the TBV was R$ 647.127,43, that is, lower than Tuesday's, with three claiming races and one race for thoroughbreds housed at Gávea.
Monday's financial result was disappointing, with only R$ 590,502.61. The main reason seems to have been the earlier start of the races, at 4:15 PM, which makes it difficult for bettors and accredited agents to access the racetrack during working hours. Most are unable to place their initial Pick 3 bet. Ideally, a test should be done and the meetings should begin at 6 PM, a time when revenue figures have been the best for many years. Running the last race at 10 PM doesn't seem like a big deal, now that pandemic rates in the city are falling. The problem in this case must be the earlier transmission of the races to international audiences, due to the time zone difference. In short, these are details to be studied. Jorge Ricardo signs eight bull riding events in Cidade Jardim.
The routine of world record holder Jorge Ricardo, with 13.159 wins, remains the same, week after week. While he is highly regarded by owners and trainers in São Paulo's horse racing scene, he signed eight mounts in a schedule of 10 races this week. Here in Rio de Janeiro's horse racing scene, not so much. In a week with only two meetings, Monday and Tuesday, with 9 races each day, Ricardinho has commitments in only half of them. That is, he will only ride 9 thoroughbreds. Of course, the fact that he spent 14 years in Argentine horse racing influences things somewhat. Upon his return, the main stud farms already had jockeys contracted. Leandro Henrique, Haras Anderson; Bruno Queiroz, Haras Santa Maria de Araras; Wesley Silva Cardoso, Haras Figueira do Lago; Stud H&R; Valdinei Gil; and Waldomiro Blandi, at Haras Nacional and Red Rafa, among others.
Jorge Ricardo will ride Vijay in the Dark Brown Special Race and Olympic Juju in the Raymond Naufal Special Race at Friday's meeting in Cidade Jardim. In the regular races, also known as class races, he will have Moleque da Vila, Oyster Plá, Gato do Jaguaretê, L'Auberge, Jungle Flower, and Jagdalpur. The quality of the horses he has ridden in São Paulo's turf has been far superior to those offered here at Gávea. In his first year back from Buenos Aires' turf, Ricardinho accumulated 13 wins in classic races in São Paulo's turf, and only three in Rio de Janeiro's turf. Another significant detail: he won the efficiency award from São Paulo's race directors.
Here in Rio, due to the poor quality of the horses he's signed to, his success rate has been well below normal. A darling of Rio's horse racing fans during the 24 years he reigned at the top of the statistics, Ricardinho found a very different scenario upon his return to Brazil. His horses win with high payouts, he rarely receives opportunities from top-ranked trainers, not even ribbons from the jockeys he's hired. He even achieved victories for less-known trainers, some with a small number of thoroughbreds under their responsibility. And, in Cidade Jardim, he received a kind, solicitous welcome and prestige, an attitude and reverence befitting his glorious career in world horse racing. In short, as journalist Chico Pinheiro from TV Globo says, "Life goes on..." ( Raia Leve – Paulo Gama)
